The US government closed 70 charter flight routes, including routes connecting Nicaragua with Cuba and Libya, reported the United States Department of State.

“We will continue to take action to impose visa restrictions on owners, executives and senior officials as part of our broader campaign against such exploitative practices inside and outside the Western Hemisphere, in collaboration with partners in government and the private sector,” the statement said. press release from the State Department.

To date, visa restrictions have been imposed on people from 16 countries in Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North Africa and West Africa, helping to close more than 70 charter flight routes, including that connect Nicaragua with Cuba and Libya.

“No one should benefit from vulnerable migrants, not smugglers, not private companies, not public officials,” Miller emphasized.

He reiterated that this visa restriction policy is global and also applies to people who otherwise qualify for the Visa Waiver Program. These actions are taken pursuant to section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
