Jennifer Lopez He talked about how he gave the news of his divorce of Ben Affleck to their twins, Emme and Max.
“I had a really difficult year. Unexpected things happened. So I read many books. I did a lot of self-reflection,” said the 55-year-old singer, in an interview with The country published on Wednesday, May 7. “I did meditation. I prayed a lot. I wanted to improve my relationship with God. I really wanted to consolidate the family unit that we and my two children, my twins.”
Lopez shares Emme and Max, both 17, with their ex -husband Marc Anthony. When Lopez finally requested the 52 -year -old Affleck divorce, in August 2024, he sat down with his children to talk about changing dynamics in his family.
“I told them, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but they will see that I will be stronger and better on the other side.’ I promised them that and did it, ”he explained. “And now they feel it. That gives me great peace in my life.”
Lopez added that he put a lot of effort to focus on improving the well -being of his family and his own.
“I read many books about childhood, marriage, relationships, different love styles, brain, science … and over the years, I have done individual therapy, couple therapy, family therapy. I have had everything, I am always looking for,” he recalled. “I think it’s about learning about oneself. It’s about meeting yourself. You have to be ready for that. And you have to love it. And even when you want it, it’s hard to change certain things. But you can do it.”
Lopez learned that although everyone goes through difficult times, the true lessons of life come from how a person perseveres.
“Everyone goes through difficult times in their life. And that is what you do at that time what really defines you,” he reflected. “Not the relationship, not man: what defines you is what you are doing with the experiences you face. I take those experiences, whether good or bad, and one.”
Now, Lopez is “happier” with how far he has come to have difficult conversations with his children.
“I am proud of myself for that and I am proud to have been able to guide my children through difficult times, who are stronger and better thanks to that,” he said, explaining that he was ready to return on tour. “So, it’s a great time to leave and dance and sing and have a good time with everyone.”
When Lopez and Affleck began to have marriage problems, the singer canceled her tour This is me live to focus on your family. Now Lopez is in a better mental state and is ready to see his fans again.
“I just want to tour when we are going to celebrate,” he joked. “Let’s have a good time.”
Lopez and Affleck finished their divorce earlier this year, with a judge signing the documents in February.
