They threaten the lawyer who asked to investigate Matías Lacava in the United States
Lawyer John de la Vega reported on Friday that he had received threats after requesting an investigation in the United States into Matías Lacava, son of Governor Rafael Lacava.
According to De la Vega, the threats come from groups related to the ruling party. Through his Instagram account, he reported: “Today we woke up to the news that groups related to Chavismo operating in Florida have left threatening signs on our property.”
In the shared images you could see posters with messages such as “What is with one, is with all. “Bolivarian Fury”. The lawyer stated that the United States “does not tolerate political persecution.” He added: “This hate crime will not be accepted. “We are already in contact with the Miami-Dade police, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to identify those responsible for these acts.”
The lawyer, a veteran of the US Army during the Iraq war, asked his followers to share any information about those responsible, showing a video on his social network where unidentified individuals appear.
In addition, Venezuelan lawyers in the United States have asked Senator Marco Rubio, the next head of the DHS in Donald Trump’s administration, to investigate Matías Lacava, who will participate in a soccer friendly between Venezuela and the United States scheduled for January 18 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Investigation against Matías Lacava
On January 13, a firm of Venezuelan lawyers based in the United States asked Rubio to revoke the visa of soccer player Matías Lacava.
The document requests three specific measures: an exhaustive investigation into Matías Lacava’s visa application, the revocation of immigration benefits that may have been granted, and the strengthening of immigration controls to prevent people linked to Nicolás Maduro from entering the country.
Lawyers consider it inappropriate for relatives of Chavismo figures to enter the United States without a thorough review. “It is essential to protect national security and the democratic principles that underpin this country,” the text emphasized.
The request also highlighted the confidence of the Venezuelan diaspora in Marco Rubio’s commitment to democratic values and human rights.
