Miley Cyrus revives Paulina Rubio’s novelty

Miley Cyrus did it again: he took out a new song, burned the networks and, unintentionally (or wanting), put Paulina Rubio to the conversation. His new song, “End of the World”, which came out on April 3, sounded suspiciously Similar to another song. The detail? That song is not from Dua Lipa, nor from Lorde, nor a star with which he shares a label. It is nothing more and nothing less than “mine”, the iconic song that Paulina Rubio launched in 1992.
And of course, the Internet did his own: comparative videos, threads in X and debates on Tiktok trying to solve the million dollar question … Miley was inspired by the golden girl?
Paulina + Abba + Miley
Although the lyrics of both songs have nothing to do, the rhythm and instrumental base have made noise. But the most curious thing is that there is a third figure in this story: Abba.
Some fans (very involved in the musical analysis) say that both “mine” and “end of the world” could have roots in the same source: the iconic Swedish group that dominated the 70s.
A creator of content known in Tiktok as @historiadeunacanción explained that, far from talking about plagiarism, we would be facing a clear case of sound tribute. “There is nothing more than tribute here,” he said, while comparing fragments that they effectively have a certain air to “Mamma Mia”.
So far, neither Paulina nor Miley has said a single word nor issued any statement.
And Miley Cyrus’s new album?
“End of the World” is just an advance of what is coming. Miley will release her next album, Subject Beautifulthis May 30. The album will feature 13 themes produced by herself and by the multi -member Shawn Everett.
The singer told Harper’s Bazaar: “It is more experimental than everything I did before, but in a pop way that I love.” So, are we facing a musical controversy or simply the natural evolution of a genre that always recycles its best rhythms?
For now, there is no verdict. But if someone revives Paulina Rubio in 2025 … that Miley Cyrus is.
