TikTok’s response to the US Supreme Court decision
Through a new statement, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew He referred to the decision of the United States Supreme Court this Friday, January 17. The Supreme Court gave green light to the law that forces TikTok to suspend its operations in the country before January 19 for not having separated from its parent company, the Chinese ByteDance.
Through the video, which lasts almost a minute and a half, the director thanked the president-elect, Donald Trumptheir commitment to keep the application in the United States.
“On behalf of all of us at TikTok and all of our users across the country, I want to thank President Trump for his commitment to working with us to find a solution that keeps TikTok available in the United States,” Chew said.
Additionally, the executive noted that the Republican magnate “really understands the platform,” as he used TikTok to express his “own thoughts and perspectives.”
It should be remembered that Trump opened his own TikTok account in 2024 during the election campaign.
Chew’s statements come after Trump indicated that he will make a decision about the future of the social network TikTok “in the not too distant future,” although there are no clues about the options he is considering for the platform to continue operating in the country. .
“The Supreme Court’s decision was expected, and everyone must respect it. I will make my decision about TikTok in the not-too-distant future, but I need time to review the situation. Stay tuned!”Trump indicated on his social network, Truth Social.
In his statements, Chew also stressed that the supreme court’s decision affects 170 million Americans who use the application every day to connect.
He even referred to the “7 million American companies” that are on the platform and obtain new customers through their interactions on it.
He also thanked American users for making the TikTok community “a rich and vibrant space to surprise and delight every day.”
Finally, he indicated that TikTok will do everything in its power to ensure that the platform continues to operate and that there is “more to come.”
Recently, Joe Biden announced that he will leave the future of the social network in the hands of his successor, Donald Trump.
