Jennifer Lopez was sued for publishing photos of herself taken by Paparazzi

Singer Jennifer López received a demand for rights to publish two photos of herself taken by a paparazzi in early 2025.
Photographer Edwin Blanco and Backgrid USA photo agency filed two federal demands against López since they claim to be the co -owners of the two images of the singer and actress. The photos in question were taken outside the Amazon MGM Studios X Vanity Fair Party event in Los Angeles one day before the Golden Globes ceremony on January 4.
The singer posted the photos in her X and Instagram accounts which caused a large number of reactions of her followers in the aforementioned social networks. There was also a reaction from the synthetic skin coat designer that the artist was wearing.
According to the plaintiffs, JLo published these photos for commercial purposes and to “self -pass” without paying the corresponding for the use of the aforementioned images to their owners.

“The unauthorized use of the images by Mrs. Lopez has a commercial nature, with the purpose of self -promoting. For example, Mrs. Lopez used the images to highlight the designer of her clothes and jewelry, taking advantage of the advertising of the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand associations,” wrote lawyer Peter Perkowski.
Backgrid and Blanco plaintiffs claim that López deliberately violated the Federal Copyright Law. According to Billboard, the singer would have to pay up to $ 150,000 in damages for each photo. As they explained, the co -owners of the images contacted López’s team and reached a verbal monetary agreement. However, the producer also did not sign a written agreement or pay the promised money.
The lawyer of the accusing party says that this is not the first time that Jennifer López commits an alleged violation of this type. In 2019 he received a lawsuit for publishing a photo taken by a paparazzi from her along with her then boyfriend Álex Rodríguez. The case was voluntarily removed in 2020.
As the lawyer points out, although López has already faced the consequences of such a violation, he emphasizes that the artist continues to commit the same actions.
“Despite this, Mrs. Lopez has continued to get involved in similar behaviors, demonstrating an intentional contempt for Backgrid’s copyright through a behavior pattern that undermines the rights of content creators.”
