Jennifer López faces two federal demands after sharing photographs in which she herself appears, captured by paparazzi. Although the images show it in a public space, its publication without authorization has resulted in a formal accusation for violation of copyright.

The demands were filed on May 17 by photographer Edwin Blanco and the Backgrid USA Agency, who claim to be the legitimate co -owners of the images taken on January 4, 2025 in front of the Marmont Bar in Los Angeles. The photos portray López before attending the party “Amazon MGM Studios X Vanity Fair Party”. Each of the images used could represent compensation of up to $ 150,000 for damages, according to federal copyright legislation.

According to legal documents, the singer and actress published the images the next day in her official Instagram and X accounts, without having requested a license to use or reach a contractual agreement for the copyright of the photographs.

The lawyer of the plaintiffs, Peter Perkowski, explained that the use of the images was not personal or incidental, but for promotional purposes. “López uses these platforms to boost your personal brand and promote your image with luxury designers and brands. That makes the use of these images into a commercial exploitation without a license,” said the jurist.

In addition, the demand alleges that, although there was a verbal negotiation between the parties and an initial economic agreement was reached, this was never formalized in writing or the agreed payment was completed.

Jennifer López is no stranger to this type of controversies. In 2019, it was sued by Splash News and Picture Agency for a similar situation, although the case was dismissed in 2020. However, current plaintiffs argue that the artist has recounted these practices, which reinforces the severity of the new legal action.

So far, neither Jennifer López nor his representatives have issued comments on these accusations.
