Jennifer Lopez faces demand for sharing images captured by paparazzi

Jennifer Lopez faces a demand for publishing in social networks photos taken by Paparazzi, which, according to a photographer and her agency, were used without authorization.

The 55 -year -old singer, who recently received suture points on the face for a stage injury, published photos of herself attending a party prior to the Golden Globes held by Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair In Los Angeles in January.

Edwin Blanco, the photographer who captured the images, and his agency, Backgrid, filed a separate lawsuits, claiming that they are copyright holders. Both demand up to $ 150,000 for each photo for damages.

Blanco and the Backgrid agency argue that the images were used “to promote the public appearances of Mrs. Lopez, increase the interaction with users, facilitate their dissemination and provide credibility to their brand content.”

In legal documents, it is stated: “The unauthorized use of images by Mrs. Lopez has a commercial nature and is oriented to self -promotion.”

“For example, Mrs. Lopez used the images to highlight the designer of her wardrobe and her jewels, and took advantage of the attention generated by the event to promote her links with brands and associations in the fashion world.”

The lawsuit also alleges that Blanco and his agency contacted Lopez’s representatives after the publication of the photos and that both parties reached an agreement on the payment. However, said agreement still does not have the singer’s signature.

The singer of ‘On The Floor’ already faced demands for the unauthorized use of his images on two previous occasions, in 2019 and 2020. Both litigation resolved outside the courts and the terms of the final agreement were not made public.

Among the public figures that faced similar demands is Gigi Hadid, who in 2019 issued a statement in which he described the lawsuit as “absurd.” Khloé Kardashian and Dua Lipa have also faced legal actions for publishing in social networks photographs of his without authorization of photographers.
