Measles in New Jersey: Minsa alert to those who attended the Shakira concert

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) issued a preventive alert after the announcement of the New Jersey State Health Department, USAon a possible mass exposure to Measles virus During the Shakira concert “Women no longer cry”, held on May 15, 2025 at the Metlife Stadium, in East Rutherford. The event brought together about 82,000 people.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that is transmitted by air. Their symptoms may appear between 10 and 14 days after contact with the virus and include fever, cough, nasal secretion, reddened eyes, sore throat and a characteristic red rashes.

The Minsa urges every person who has attended the concert and who presents some of these symptoms to immediately go to a health center, indicating its trip and assistance to the event. It is estimated that symptoms can develop until June 6, 2025.

The health authority recalled the importance of keeping up the measles vaccination scheme, which must be initiated from the first year of life. The vaccine is the most effective measure to prevent this disease.
In addition, Minsa recommends that all people traveling abroad are completely vaccinated. In the case of children who have not yet been immunized, it is advisable to consult with their pediatrician to evaluate the risk and make informed decisions.
