The Community of Madrid celebrates the final of the I Minecraft League with 10 teams that have recreated the headquarters of Digitiza Madrid from a monument

During the contest, students investigate, design and recreate in Minecraft historical spaces of their locality, applying digital skills while reinforcing their link with local history. This approach shows that technology is a key ally in education, allowing students to learn immersively and innovatively.

The initiative was launched in February for second and third cycle of primary education of sustained centers with public and also private funds to encourage the knowledge and the enhancement of the cultural heritage of their peoples and cities through the game, combining traditional documentation techniques with technological challenges. The objective was to rebuild in the video game a monument of the town where its school is located and create a world around that element.

A total of 2,550 children from 30 schools from nine municipalities in the region (Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez, Boadilla del Monte, Colmenar Viejo, Getafe, Madrid, Móstoles, Rivas-Vaciamadrid and San Sebastián de los Reyes) participated in this first edition. In total, 102 teams have been formed with a maximum of 25 members guided by a teacher who during these months have had to solve different missions.

The Minister of Digitization, Miguel López-Valverde, has today attended the decisive day of the championship that has been organized at the Regional Innovation Center. There they have gathered about 200 children representing each of their groups. The rest of the participants have joined the final from their schools connected to their classmates by videoconference.
