New York.- The American Raple, composer and actress Cardi B will receive the Voice of Culture Award of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Editors (ASCAP), in recognition of its revolutionary influence on music and culture.
In a statement, ASCAP announced the granting of the “A Multiplatin and winning superstar of Grammy, Cardi B” who already made history in 2020 to be the first woman to receive the prestigious prize of the Association to the composer of Rhythm & Soul of the year in two consecutive editions.
This adds to other multiple awards, including eight ASCAP awards for pop music and 23 awards in total Rhythm & Soul music, the statement said.
This year, the rapper returns to receive the Voice of the Culture of ASCAP, which is awarded to the members of that Association of the United States who have had a great influence on music and culture, in recognition of their success as composers and creators of changes.
“Cardi B has left an indelible mark on the Hip-Hop culture by redefining and challenging the rules for women,” said Paul Williams, president of the Board of Directors and President of ASCAP.
“After having overcame innumerable barriers with its authenticity and talent without complexes, it continues to use its voice to defend and inspire others, a true testimony of its undeniable impact. We are proud to give Cardi B the Voice of Ascap Voice Award of this year,” he said.
Cardi B will receive the award at an event organized by ASCAP on June 8 in Los Angeles.
The rapper has an extensive list of awards, nominations and honors, including nine Nominations for the Grammy Awards, eight Billboard Music Awards, six Guinness World Records, five Spotify One Billion Streams, six American Music Awards, four MTV awards to musical videos and three IHeartradio Titanium awards, among others.
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Editors is defined as an association of more than one million composers, authors and musical editors, which represents some of the most talented musical creators in the world.
