Miley Cyrus talks about her relationship with Billy Ray Cyrus in difficult times

Miley Cyrusat 32, it has been news again, not for a new musical success or a controversial public appearance, but by a statement that clarifies, once and for all, its relationship with its father, Billy Ray Cyrus63. Recently, in an interview for THE New York Timesthe singer denied the distancing rumors that had pursued her for years.

“No,” Miley answered the question about whether she was distanced from her father. But his answer was much more than a simple “no.” Miley deepened, revealing an evolution in her family perspective, a maturity that has allowed her to see her parents as individuals, beyond her parental role:

“I think that time is everything. As I have aged, I respect my parents as individuals instead of how parents … I think I assumed part of my mother’s pain as my own because it hurt her more than me as an adult, so I appropriated myself of her pain.”

This change of perspective has been favored, in their own words, for the happiness that both parents have found in their new relationships. Reconciliation with his father comes after his parents’ divorce, Billy Ray and Tish cyrus (58 years), after almost three decades of marriage. Tish married Dominic Purcell (55 years) in August 2023, while Billy Ray, after a brief marriage with Firiese, began a relationship with Elizabeth Hurley (59 years) earlier this year.

The evolution of Miley’s relationship with her father has not been exempt from ups and downs. His rise to fame with him in Hannah Montanamarked the beginning of a complex family dynamic, marked by the challenges inherent to public life and media pressure. Even recently, Miley had to clarify, through her Instagram stories, rumors about an alleged break with her mother, attributing it to a simple error in the management of social networks.

Miley closed his reflection with a phrase that summarizes his new approach: “Now, in my thirties, the family is my priority above all. I am at peace knowing that bridges have been built and that time has done much healing. Grateful for good health and love that flows in my family.”
