The grandparents thieves: the band that stole Kim Kardashian’s jewels in Paris

The profile of the defendants evokes thieves of classic films of French cinema of the 60s and 70s, characterized by their discretion, preparation and their own codes.

Some of them already had sentences for similar robberies, which reinforces the image of a professional band. Attached by the press as “the grandparents of the crime”, these men starred in one of the most media robberies of the last decade, during the Paris fashion week.

The assault occurred in a private luxury hotel, where several of the defendants – struggling of police – threatened and locked Kardashian, fleeing with their jewels valued at nine million dollars.

The group is made up of men between 60 and 70 years, with previous sentences for high profile robberies. Among them is Yunis Abbaswho has even given interviews after crime and was released for health reasons.

For May 13, the declaration of the civil parties is scheduled, including the hotel receptionist, Kardashian’s personal assistant and, finally, Kim herself, whose testimony is expected to generate great media attention. Finally, the court ruling will be known on May 23.
