Singer Miley Cyrus presented Friday night at the Tribeca festival her experimental pop opera Subject Beautiful, an audiovisual piece that accompanies her new album of the same name and in which he explores, from music and aesthetics, her own definition of beauty.
“The word beautiful (‘beautiful’) is so unique and personal … for each one it can mean something different: a memory, a person, an object, a gift, anything”, The artist reflected during the Colloquium after the projection in the Beacon Theater in New York.
Cyrus arrived at the enclosure as a true film star, wearing a mesh dress with golden glitters and a fringes coat, accompanied by her boyfriend Maxx Morando and her mother, Tish Cyrus. During the projection, she was relaxed, proud and dancing in her seat to the rhythm of her own songs.
The theater, full of followers, vibrated several times with applause and screams. At one point, a fan asked him to sing The Climb, and the artist agreed, singing the first verses of one of her most iconic themes.
A work about the rebirth
One of the central themes of the album is Reborn (Renacer), an idea that Cyrus embodies in this experimental work, in which he leaves behind labels and exposes deep emotions.

There are ballads like brunette, pure pop like Easy Lover, disc rhythms like Walk of Fame, and purely psychedelic moments in the two interludes without lyrics.
Influences, fashion and femininity
Although Miley argues that Something Beautiful “is something that nobody has done before,” recognizes the inspiration of figures such as Tina Turner, Donna Summer and Diana Ross. “This is my trip, but they facilitated the way“, said.
The surrealist film The Wall (1982) by Pink Floyd also cited as a reference, although “with better costumes,” he joked. Subject Beautiful not only marks a new artistic chapter for Miley Cyrus, but also represents a fusion between music, cinema, fashion and performance. Maxx Morando, his partner, participates as drummer and actor in several sequences.
