Ariana Grande announced the death of her grandmother, Marjorie Grande. He was 99 years old.
On Tuesday, the 31 -year -old singer shared a statement published by her mother, Joan Grande, about the death of Marjorie. Ariana frequently published about her grandmother, which she affected “nonna”, on social networks, and even took her to watch her movie, WICKEDin November.
“With deep pain we participate that the beloved matriarch of our family has died,” says the statement signed by Ariana and his family.
“Marjorie (Nonna) Grande died in peace at home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones at every moment of her last weeks. We thank them for her love, support and for respecting our intimacy while we cry and celebrate her beautiful and extraordinary life.”
Ariana shared a close bond with her grandmother. In 2014, Marjorie accompanied the singer as her appointment to the VMA, where they wore outfits coordinated in black and white and shared hugs on the red carpet. Since then, Marjorie has accompanied the pop star in numerous events, including the American Music Awards of 2015 and La Gala Time 100 2016.
When Marjorie went to see her granddaughter in the role of Glinda in WICKED In a Cinemark 20 by Boca Mouse, Florida, Ariana made sure to accompany her.
“I flew to Boca for a day to see (the movie) with Nonna, in the cinema I grew up going every weekend,” wrote the singer of ‘Side To Side’ in her Instagram stories in November, next to photos of the departure.
“I am excited to inform that when the Petauro del Sugar made its battery alone, Nonna exclaimed aloud: ‘Oh, I love it!'” Ariana added.
Ariana’s brother, Frankie Grande, also paid tribute to her grandmother on Instagram with an extensive message. He shared a series of photos of him and Marjorie and reflected on the “innumerable lessons” he learned from her.
“You taught me to love without conditions, to dominate a three -card poker table, to never take a bad photo, to illuminate a dinner just being in the room, to give the warmer and safe I will carry that torch fierce in your absence. “You always called me the light of your eyes, Nonna, and you have always been mine. My best friend. My safe place,” he added, and continued:
“Honestly, I don’t know how this world can turn without you in it, but I know this: I know you so well that I will never have to ask what you would say or think about any situation. Your voice, your love, your spirit are part of me forever. So, in that sense, we will never separate.”
In March 2024, Majorie beat a record in the Billboard Hot 100 list, after appearing at the end of Ariana’s song ‘Ordinary Things’, from his seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine. Became the “older artist to appear in Hot 100”, according to Billboard.
Ariana later celebrated her grandmother’s achievement on Instagram, writing: “Celebrating the only and most beautiful Nonna, who has now made history for being the oldest person to appear in the @billboard Hot 100. We love you and we thank you.”
