Mila la Morena Reimagina Shakira torture

The binational artist, Mila the brunettereturn with an alternative electronic version of «Torture”one of Shakira’s successful songs from a queer point of view. This is the first cut that presents us with its next album entitled “Post Internet”, which will see the light at the end of this year.“Torture” It is a fusion of the influences of generation Z and the experience of growing in the 2000s. “Growing up with the Internet makes us constantly question who we are, and what parts of our identity are only reflexes of the influences we absorb of children,” says Mila the brunette about the expected album. “We have anguish. We are bad. We have insecurities. We are young forever.”
Mila La Morena – Tortura the New Musical Video, directed by Keio, explores a romantic science fiction fantasy of the Z generation, with internet failures, complex sounds and a queer falling in love that suggests the creative mind of Mila La Morena. When changing the Cuban guitar of three strings and other acoustic instruments characteristic of the original theme for an electronic sound landscape fully distorted with nuances of Glitch Pop and Drum and Bass, Mila the brunette offers the listeners of the original Shakira a totally alternative electronic image change.
“Recognized as a version of Shakira, this song was essential in my childhood and in my dream of becoming a pop star. That video clip showed me how a woman could move and own her body,” says Mila the brunette about the new video clip. “In our version, directed by Keio, instead of the woman being observed by her neighbor through the window, she is seen in a live broadcast, something that seems more appropriate for our time.”
Mila continues: “In Shakira’s original video, we see the male fantasy of being with her neighbor. In our version, we portray a divine being that emerges from the computer screen and enters the spectator’s room, giving rise to a beautiful queer appointment. Throughout the video, there are indications that this divine being is only a failure and, in the end, she tries to connect with her admirer to be part of the simulation.”
