Justin Baldoni today had a great victory! Blake Lively had asked Judge Lewis Liman to prevent him from accessing his text messages with Taylor Swift about his movie “It Ends With Us”. However, the opinion could be the last nail in the coffin of the friendship of former friends.
Last Friday, Lively requested a protection order to prevent Baldoni from accessing the messages. His legal team argued that Baldoni was involving Swift in the conflict as part of a public relations strategy. However, Judge Liman did not agree.
“A motion or application can be, and in this case it has often been, both a legitimate litigation tactic and an attempt to maneuver in the broadest court of public opinion,” he wrote.
“Since Lively has declared that Swift was aware of complaints or discussions about the work environment in the film, among other issues, the requests for messages with Swift on the film and this action are reasonably designed to discover information that proves or refutes the accusations of harassment and reprisals of Lively,” said the judge.
Baldoni’s lawyers alleged that the exchanges between Lively and Swift could be essential to combat accusations of sexual harassment and defamation against their client. They also accused Lively of using swift’s “fame” to hide tests.
This is not the first time that Taylor Swift is involved in the “It Ends With Us” drama. Baldoni’s team quoted Taylor Swift as a possible witness in the case in May, with the trial scheduled for March 2026. However, they withdrew the summons weeks later.
According to Daily Mail UK, the clips that circulate on social networks show Lively, 37, repeatedly recognizing Swift as an integral part of his experience when making the film, which focuses on a romantic relationship full of domestic violence.
During a question and answers session in a New York projection last year, the former actress of Gossip Girl described Swift as someone who was with her “all the time.”
“She really lived with me,” Lively said, praising Swift as “a person who is there for you.”
In an August 2024 interview in CBS Mornings with Gayle King, Lively reiterated the feeling and said that Swift was involved in decisions related to the movie’s trailer, which presents the famous Swift song, My Tears Ricochet.
After months of rumors that the friendship between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively was “in pause”, this could very well end in a break. Unfortunately, the judge also ruled that there is a protection order to prevent information from the press. So no tea for now! Luckily, there are always leaks.
