Hytale canceled by Riot Games after 10 years of development: Minecraft’s clone became too big

Hytale, the Sandbox inspired by Minecraft, has been canceled after more than 10 years of development by Riot Games and developer Hypixel Studios, because “ambitions became too complex.”
The MMO Sandbox Hytale de Hypixel Studios has been canceled by the parent company Riot Games. The scope of the RPG became too broad to continue effectively.
In development since 2015, the game was an RPG inspired by Minecraft created by Hypixel to take advantage of its Minecraft server, extremely popular and used by almost 20 million players since 2013.

The ambition behind Hytale
Developed by Hypixel Studios, Hytale was going to compete with Minecraft, combining a world generated procedurally with mini -games, bosses, construction, craft and support for mods. Built from scratch, the developer expected players to create content and servers, thus expanding the community.
Supported by Riot Games in 2015, which was inspired by the success of the Hypixel Minecraft server, the game came into development before Riot acquired Hypixel in 2020, since both companies saw a huge potential in the project. However, in the end, the pressure of fulfilling a “creative and passionate community” of millions was too large.

Why Riota Canceló Hytale
In an extensive statement published on its website, entitled “A difficult update”, Hypixel Studios announced that the study “will close” during the next months, describing the development of video games as “brutally difficult.”
On the reason, the study explained: “Over time, as our vision evolved and the genre matured around us, the ribbon continued to rise. Our technical ambitions became more complex, and even after an important restart of the game of the game, Hytale was as advanced as he needed to be. It became clear that we would need much more time to take it to the level that required our ambitious vision.”
The developer tried to adapt and advance, but finally decided it was too much, telling fans: “We studied to reduce the scope, adjust the deadlines and look for new ways to move forward. But each of those options would have meant compromising what made Hytale special from the beginning. It would not have been the game we wanted to create. And it would not have been the game you deserve.”
Noxy, co -founder of Hypixel, concluded the statement thanking the community and confirming that the Hypixel server in Minecraft will continue online, since Hypixel Studios is managed independently.
What follows now?
With the financing cut by Riot, Hypixel Studios would be dismissed to about 150 employees. Despite its cancellation, Hytale leaves a lasting mark on the Gamer community, which will continue to drive Hypixel server in Minecraft.
Conclusion
Hytale, the procedurally generated sandbox game and inspired by Minecraft, has been canceled by Riot Games. The developer Hypixel Studios has begun the process of dismissing his staff as the study closes. Are you disappointed by the cancellation of the game? Tell us your opinion in the comments.
