Ariana Grande and Fernanda Torres, among the 534 new guests to the Hollywood Academy

Los Angeles (USA), Jun 26 (EFE) .- Ariana Grande, Brazilian Fernanda Torres, Puerto Rican Adria Arjona and Spanish director Albert Serra are among the 534 artists and executives of the film industry that the Hollywood academy invited to be part of her organization.

“Through their commitment to cinema and the film industry in general, these exceptionally talented people have made indelible contributions to our global cinematographic community,” the Director General of the Academy, Bill Kramer, and President of the Institution, Janet Yang, said Thursday in a statement.

Among the new members selected to be part of the most important cinema agency are the British Gillian Anderson (‘The Last King of Scotland’), the Mexican Adriana Paz (‘Emilia Pérez’), Aubrey Plaza (‘Emily The Criminal’) or the American Monica Barbaro (‘A Complete Unknown’).

The winner of the best actress of the last edition, the American Mikey Madison, is also on this list for her role in the acclaimed ‘Anora’. His cast partner Yura Borisov appears among this year’s guests, as well as the winner for Best Actor Kieran Culkin, for ‘A Real Pain’.

The names of the Academy are extended to recognized Hollywood faces such as Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong (‘The Apprentice’), Margaret Qualley (‘The Substance’), Andrew Scott (‘All of Us Strangers’) or Jason Momoa (‘Dune’).

The Spanish section highlights the Spanish Albert Serra (‘Apartes de Soledad’), the nominated for Oscar Coralie Fargeat (‘The Substance’), the Brazilian Gabriel Mascaro (‘The Blue Trail’) and the Mexican David Pablos (‘Dance of the 41’).

Likewise, the directors of the Oscarizar Documentary ‘No Other Land’, of the Israeli Yuval Abraham and the Palestinian Basel Adra, appear among the guests to be part of the presane Academy of Hollywood.

The list also contemplates personalities of sections such as photography, edition, sound, casting directors. Also as representatives of artists, screenwriters, special effects or production design, among other categories.

If all the invitations are accepted, “the total number of members (including emeritus) will be 11,120” while the number of voters will be extended to 10,143, the academy said.

With the incorporation of a new generation of members, “the Academy will compose for 35 % of women, 22 % of underrepresented communities and 21 % of international members,” he said.

The 98th edition of the Oscar will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2025 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (California, USA).
