Mystery, humor and joy mix in the Herencia Carnival poster | Digital Day
The poster will be the central image of the ‘Anxious Saturday’, which will be held on February 22 at 11:45 p.m. in ‘El Roce’, today Avenida de la Constitución, marking the beginning of one of the most anticipated moments of the Carnival of Herencia, the welcome of the Herenciano New Year.
With the parody of the traditional New Year’s bell ringing and the eating of the 12 grapes that in Herencia are replaced by pieces of utrera bagel, a typical product of this carnival of National Tourist Interest, the municipality’s Carnival association has reported.
This design student originally from Herencia signs her creation as ‘Kinki En Zuecos’. The poster stands out for “its vibrant representation of a traditional heritage mask”, an iconic element is complemented by symbols typical of street masks, such as the club and the characteristic “flus flus” of water.
According to the author, “its inspiration comes from childhood memories in which unknown masks splashed water, causing laughter and surprises that capture the essence of the Herencia carnival, a mixture of mystery, humor and joy.”
Alicia has chosen a high perspective to place the mask, creating a direct connection with the viewer. “I wanted you to feel that moment of freshness and surprise that is so characteristic of our party when you see it,” he explains.
ENERGY AND JOY
The bright and festive colors of the poster reflect the energy and fun of the carnival, while the white line highlights the details and adds dynamism to the illustration.
The mask cape includes a subtle homage to La Mancha, with a design inspired by Herencia’s roots.
In addition, the olive green background pays tribute to the emblematic fruit of the region: the olive.
Alicia Martín’s passion for illustration began at the age of 11 and has continued to develop through her artistic high school training and a higher degree in illustration.
“Art has always been my way of expressing thoughts, feelings and ideals,” says the artist.
