The Administration has justified the decision arguing that it is necessary to ensure that all funds comply with the recent executive orders signed by Trump, which include restrictions on the rights of transgender people and cuts in programs of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI, for their acronym in English).
In a memorandum issued on Monday, the interim director of the Office of Management and Budget (WBO), Matthew J. Vaeth, said that freezing also affects funds for foreign aid and non -governmental organizations, among other items.
The pause ordered by Trump could delay the disbursement of billions of dollars for various programs, including student loans, and would have a negative impact on health research, food assistance and the financing of support organizations for veterans and people with disabilities .
