A small monomotor plane crashed in the northeast of Philadelphia, near the Roosevelt shopping center, police sources confirmed to CNN.

“Incident major near Cottman and Bustleton avenues in the northeast of Philadelphia, in front of the Roosevelt Shopping Center. Closed roads in the area, including parts of the Roosevelt Boulevard. Avoid the area, ”said the emergency management office in X.

The Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) reported that two people were aboard a Learjet 55 – a Bimotor business jet – that crashed into Philadelphia.

“A Learjet 55 crashed around 6:30 pm local time on Friday, January 31, after taking off the Northeast of Philadelphia airport. Two people were on board. The plane was heading to the Springfield-Benson National Airport in Missouri. FAA and NTSB will investigate. The National Board of Transportation Security (NTSB) will lead the investigation and provide all updates. ”

The plane reached 1,650 feet (just over 500 meters) after takeoff and before falling, according to ADS-B Exchange data. The data show that the final decrease speed was 11,000 feet (3,350 meters) per minute.

It is not clear immediately with what the plane could have impacted. Currently, there are several fire trucks in the place.
