The Trump government prepares to revoke the legal status of many migrants who entered the United States under a Biden era program, according to a source familiar with these plans, which expands the group of people who could be deported.

The measure is expected to affect migrants from Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela and Haiti who arrived during the government of President Joe Biden under a temporary permit permit program (humanitarian parole), and those who were allowed to live and work temporarily in the US .UU.

Some of them are eligible for other programs that could protect them from deportation. But if they have not looked for other legal routes to remain in the US, they can be eligible for the expulsion of the country, according to the source.

This would be the most recent of a series of Trump government measures to eliminate temporary protections for immigrants already residing in the United States.

The Republicans criticized the use that biden made of the temporary permanence permit program in the US, arguing that their administration exceeded their authority in the use of it. On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed a decree that requested a review of the temporary permanence permit.

The Biden administration officials argued that the so -called probation authority of Humanitarian permanence permit helped reduce illegal border crossings by providing people with a legal way to enter the country. The program required that migrants had a sponsor in the US, undergoing tests and background verifications and complying with the vaccination calendar.

The proposal, reported for the first time by CBS News, is still being defined.

Many of those who arrived under the humanitarian permanence permit program have been in the US for less than two years. Trump officials expanded a procedure to accelerate deportations, with the aim of including undocumented immigrants anywhere in the United States who cannot demonstrate that they have lived in the country continuously for two years or more.

The fast -track deportation procedure, known as “accelerated expulsion”, allows immigration authorities to expel a person without a hearing before an immigration judge. Degree migrants of the permanence permit could be eligible for rapid deportation.
