Mystery as great white giant brain sharks on the Atlantic beaches

Scientists have been baffled by the growing number of large white sharks dead with enlarged brains that are washed on beaches in North America.

The marine mystery is causing alarm between the scientific community in Canada and the United States that have not yet discovered what inflammation is causing.

Before August 2023, the Canadian Health Cooperative of Wildlife (CWHC), which studies wildlife health problems, had not encountered a dead white shark in 30 years.

But when one washed on the island of Prince Eduardo without signs of injuries, he baffled experts before they finally found meningencephalitis, an inflammation of brain tissues that eventually interrupts normal cognitive functions, such as the cause of death.

After this, four other white sharks have been washed on the beaches of the Atlantic coast of Canada and a comparable phenomenon in the United States has been observed, and the first one was recorded in July 2022 on the Massachusetts coast.

With respect, most of the fish, which are famous for their strong immune systems, found that they suffer the same cerebral inflammation.

In statements to New York Instances, Dr. Megan Jones, a veterinary pathologist and regional director of the CWHC, said that cases of bacterial infections cause cerebral inflammation in the past.

Similarly, their main prey, the seals have also seen their population recover by providing an abundance of food.

Compared to another Marine Wildlife, such as whales and dolphins, there are still many unknowns about sharks and research on them remains insufficient.

In addition to this, the great white sharks are largely misunderstood as a species.

Thanks to the hits successful successes such as the jaws and the deep blue sea, the marine animal has been painted as a sea villain that will attack anyone who nothing on their way.

However, in reality, deliberate shark attacks against humans are extremely rare.

On the other hand, it is humanity that represents one more threat to large targets with commercial fishing that is a key threat.

Worldwide, the species is now listed as susceptible to the number of large targets that constantly decrease with an estimate of 5,0000 to 3,500 remaining in nature.
