MYSTERIES

The mind, the greatest mystery of the human being

The mind, consciousness or individual psychology is the most important and, less understood of modern psychology.

Studies and evidence have established that the brain is the biological basis of the mind and not the heart, as poets tell. Since 1880, brilliant minds such as Europeans, Sigmund Freud and Wilhelm Wundt, and Americans John Watson and Daniel Kahneman have tried to explain how it works

At least four nervous system researchers have received a Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology: the Russian Iván Pavlov, in 1904, for their discoveries of conditioned reflexes, or learned responses related to mental processes. The Spanish Santiago Ramón y Cajal, in 1906, for their studies on the structure and changes of the nervous system.

Also the American Eric Kandel, in 2000, for neuronal plasticity, that is, the renovating capacity and permanent changes in neurons for the practice and constant repetition. And the American psychologist Daniel Kahneman, in 2002, for his contributions on human judgments and decisions and how we think, where he links the economy with psychology.

Recall that in 2013, the president of the United States, Barack Obama, sponsored the initiative or “brain project”, with the aim of mapping or identifying brain functions, and there is still much to discover about the human brain. Imagine how much remains to be understood about the human mind.

The paradoxical thing is that, although it is not known exactly how it works, it is easier to influence it. Psychology, neurology and computer tools, especially artificial intelligence, increasingly influence and manipulate beliefs, emotions, perceptions, fears, anger and hopes of people.

I will give these examples.

The painting The Lisa Mona either The Gioconda. Despite its small size (77 x 53 cm), it is the most studied and visited in the Louvre Museum, in Paris, the most famous in the world. The president of France already announced that they will enable direct access to a cost of 834 million dollars. Experts say that the expression of the giont is ambiguous, and awakens in the human mind sensations of mystery, beauty and curiosity, and causes an instinct of almost universal attraction. It is an example of attraction learned.

The snakes or snakes, even in countries such as the Dominican Republic, where the species that exist are harmless, cause repulsive or fear sensations in the human mind, and wake up An instinctive fearperhaps because of their relationship with poison and biblical stories and myths, which symbolize deception and danger.

On the other hand, the media and social networks have become key tools to mold the collective mind, through them, stories are generally transmitted, exaggerated, manipulated or false, that infiltrate beliefs and myths that affect the ability to think. This phenomenon has been used by leaders from different eras, such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Fidel Castro.

Currently, US former president Donald Trump, supported by 77 million voters, has managed to promote himself when the attraction and fear explode. It has been presented as a clairvoyant or messianic leader; and applies an advertising strategy based on threats and sanctions, agencies, countries and citizens, through their presidential statements and orders, analysis of how we think; of such a power that has impacted in bright and simple minds, and has managed to shudder the planet.
