The second of five storms that will hit the eastern half of the United States with snow and ice for a period of two weeks is on its way, and this will wear more snow than the first.
The first storm unleashed a deadly severe climate, serious floods and dangerous ice and snow while progressing through the west and northeast, Wednesday and Thursday.
The next storm already hit the west coast on Thursday night and is moving rapidly to the east through the Rocky ones of the North. It will move so fast that it will take less than 72 hours to go from coast to coast, leaving intense snow to the west media on Saturday and northeast on Saturday night and Sunday.
The storms are being driven by the stream in jet, essentially a river of air in the atmosphere through which the storms flow. It is blocked in an almost perfect line from west to east and will continue to channel fast -movement storms through the northern 48 contiguous states.
New storms will arrive every few days until the stream current changes, something that might not happen until mid -February. So more snow could accumulate in the next two weeks in some parts of the East, including Boston and New York City, which in the last two winters together.
The snow of the next storm will begin to fall early on Saturday on the plains of the north and the high west medium. Precipitation will expand as the storm is driven by atmospheric energy to the south. A mixture of rain and frozen rain will extend from Missouri to the central appliances on Saturday morning while snow falls on the great lakes.
The storm will drop an extensive area of 7 to 15 centimeters of snow from the center of Minnesota to the center of Michigan. Total snow are anticipated lower to the south of this most intense snow strip: Chicago could end with less than 2 centimeters of Aguanieve while Detroit will see 2.5 centimeters.
On Saturday morning it could be dry between the two areas of winter rainfall in an area from Chicago to Cleveland. An ice mixture will fill these dry areas in the afternoon.
A mixture of frozen rain, Aguanieve and Snow will extend on Pennsylvania on Saturday night. The same mixture will be extended by New Jersey, New York City and Long Island shortly after. The snow totals will be higher than those of Thursday’s storm for much of New England and the north of the state of New York.
It is possible that at least 15 centimeters of snow fall from the central portions of New York to southern Maine and in much of the south of New England. Snow totals could approach the two digits from Syracuse, New York, to Boston.
Boston could receive 30 centimeters of snow on Saturday night and Sunday, which would be more snow than fell throughout last winter. The city has not had a two -digit snowfall in a single day in just over three years.
The storm will end at mid -Sunday in much of the northeast. There could be some snow until the early hours of the afternoon in Maine and the New England coast.
There will only be a brief pause in the winter climate in the East from next week before another storm.
The exact moment and the magnitude of the winter climate next week are still being defined, but the high range storm could be developed in the plains as soon as Monday night. It will be strengthened and the precipitation will wrap a large part of the eastern half of the United States during the night of Monday and Tuesday.
It is not yet clear exactly how far the snow, the aguanieve and the frozen rain could extend, but anywhere from the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys to the north, to the west and the northeast medium, it could be on the path of the storm.
Another very similar storm could be formed on the plains just after the middle of the week. The first storm of the week that will be influenced by the development and movement of this, so we will not know more specific details of the forecast until next week.
That’s not all. Another storm that will cross the country could develop next weekend and bring more snow and ice in the Eastern Half of the USA.
Snow totals will increase rapidly as it storms after a storm hit the northeast, something that has not happened in the region in recent years.
Boston should register around 90 snow centimeters every winter, but less than 60 centimeters fell into the last two combined winters. This next period could bring 30 to 60 centimeters of snow to the city, depending on the final trajectory of each storm.
A similar scenario could be developed in New York City. Less than 25 centimeters of snow covered the city in the last two winters, but that amount could accumulate during this active period.
