The Islamist group Hamas criticized on Saturday the sanctions announced by the United States against the International Criminal Court (CPI), and said that “war criminals” as the Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, on which an order of international arrest weighs .
Basem Naim, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, said in a statement that the sanctions promote “the law of the jungle and reward war criminals like Netanyahu.”

Trump’s sanctions to the CPI
This Thursday, the US president, Donald Trump, signed an executive order to sanction the ICC for alleged actions against the United States and its allies, a decision held by the Israeli authorities.
The president considered in that document that the CPI has undertaken “illegitimate and unfounded actions against the United States” and Israel, defined as a “narrow ally”, and has “abused even more of its power by issuing infused arrest orders” against the first Israeli Minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, and his former Minister of Defense Yoav Galant.

For Trump, the recent actions of the ICC “feel a dangerous precedent, putting at risk directly to the current and previous staff of the United States, including active service members of the Armed Forces, by exposing them to harassment, abuse and possible arrest.”
The document understands the government of the Government of a MEMBER COUNTRY of NATO or an outstanding partner that does not belong to that organization.

Although it stands out that Washington is still committed to accountability, it is requested that the CPI respect its decision and that of other countries not to submit its personnel to the jurisdiction of that court.
The order contemplates financial restrictions and restricted the obtaining of visas to travel to the United States to individuals from the ICC, as well as their immediate family (couple and children), who collaborate in court investigations against US citizens or Washington allies.
For Trump, any effort of the CPI to investigate, arrest or process protected people “constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security and foreign policy of the United States”, which is why he said he declared “a national emergency to address that threat”.
