Those who visit the Chapel of the Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary, located in Alta Gracia, province of Córdoba, become witnesses of a phenomenon that challenges all logical explanation: an image of the Virgin Mary appears in the niche or base of the altarpiece, located behind of the altar. The intriguing thing is that this space is empty, without a visible figure, however, those who approach can perceive the image of the Virgin.
Unlike a flat or conventional image, what is observed is a three -dimensional figure, with relief and folds in your dress, clearly visible from the gateway of the sanctuary. The phenomenon is not limited to direct vision, but can also be captured in photographs, which increases its mystery. In addition, a curious fact is that the image seems to fade as one approaches, but it is still visible from distance, which adds an inexplicable component to this phenomenon.

Although the phenomenon is widely recognized by the visitors of the sanctuary, sources of the same indicated that, in February 2025, there have been no official pronouncements of the Archbishop of Córdoba regarding this fact. It was indicated that “everything remains the same” and no new statements have been issued about the phenomenon.
