A legislator goes to the US Chamber with accusations of rape and sexual predation

On Monday night, the representative Nancy Mace, a republican for South Carolina who in recent weeks has raised a possible candidacy for the governorate of her state, accused her expromed and three other men of having drugged and raped at her and others and others women, and having filmed and taken lascivious photographs of minors and girls without their consent.

In an amazingly detailed speech in the chamber of the Chamber, and with few precedents, Mace said that the men, whom he appointed and those who showed photographs in a banner where legislators usually expose tables and graphs on policy issues, were involved in the “premeditated and calculated exploitation of innocent women and girls of my district.”

“A round trip ticket has been reserved,” he said, directing men at a time of a speech that lasted about an hour. “It’s non -scales. There are no connections. So that I and all his victims can see how they rot until eternity. ”

In the plenary of the camera, Mace was protected by the clause of discourse and debate, even when he accused men of repeatedly assaulting unconscious women and recording it. The clause gives immunity legislators in the face of criminal proceedings or civil lawsuits, for example for slander, when they act “within the legislative sphere.” Mace did not offer any evidence to base the accusations, although he said he had abundant material of that type.

On Monday night he refused to answer the questions of the journalists who were outside the Capitol and did not answer another request to provide corroboration. The New York Times has not independently verified any of the accusations.

In a statement not long after Mace finished speaking, Patrick Bryant, the expromeid to whom he accused by his name, denied her version.
