Although several decades have passed since the first years of Shakira in music, some fans still remember as an invaluable treasure its beginnings.
Fredy Escobar, a journalist who retains a large collection of handwritten photos and letters by Shakira, became the first president of the Shakira Fans Club in the world.

How did Fredy meet Shakira?
Jhon Fredy Escobar Jiménez is a Colombian journalist who works in the content development area for Teleantioquia.
In a recent interview with the same media, Escobar shared how his connection with Shakira was born and the impact he generated on his life.
Everything happened in 1995, when a young Fredy saw Shakira for the first time during a presentation that the singer had in Medellín with a station called Radio Cristal.
For Fredy it was “love at first glance” and that feeling accompanied him for much of his adolescence.
Since then, he became one of his greatest fans, but it was not until years later when he was finally able to talk to the Barranquilla.
According to Fredy, he was “one of the most exciting moments” of his life. Thanks to her mother and a friend, she traveled to a concert in Bogotá where she managed to give her a hug and give a letter to the artist.
Shakira herself called her house later and Fredy was at school. Her mother attended the call and talked with her about information for a tour in Venezuela.
Fredy still retains in a great album many of the dedications sent by the artist.
“For the best fans club in the world – Shakira 1996,” Fredy said, watching the photograph of a young Shakira with nostalgia.
Among his belongings, he also keeps with love the photo of the first kiss he gave to the singer.
Fredy’s collection, with thousands of newspaper and magazine cuts, began when he was 15 years old, in 1995. Shakira signed his album and left a dedication to Paisa, with the firm “Her friend Shakira”.

Fredy describes Shakira, 18 as “a woman full of charisma, joy, dreams and huge desire to eat the world with her music.”
Today still, Fredy is proud to be the first president of his fans club worldwide and ensures that having it in front once more, I would tell her that dreams are fulfilled.
