In the Billboard 200 list dated April 5, two artists shared position No. 2: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, whose relationship of friends to lovers manifested in the sweet album of the couple, I SAID I LOVE YOURSTlong after they started working together as a singer and producer a decade ago.
But, although the debut committed in the Charts It was certainly impressive, Gomez and Blanco are far from being the first musical couple to create an album together. For decades, for many, romantic love and musical inspiration have gone hand in hand, with some duos of composers who began with band dynamics becoming romantic, and others who decided to try their luck in music together only after being in a relationship.
There are iconic duos such as Sonny and Cher, Ike and Tina Turner, and Captain and Tennille, whose careers and marriages were inextricably linked. And, of course, powerful couples such as Jay-Z and Beyoncé or Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, where both spouses already had an illustrious solo musical career long before recording joint albums.
No matter the exact dynamics, it is easy to understand the attraction of making music with your partner. There is no reason to contain themselves when writing letters: they probably already know the whole of each other. And in many cases, his collaborator is just a few steps if they need it, which doubles productivity.
From Selena and Benny to the Carter and all musical souls that came before them, here are 10 albums created by pairs.
