Selena Gómez tributes ‘The boy with sad eyes’ by Jeanette

It was March 21 when Selena Gómez and Benny Blanco launched their first album together, I SAID I love you first. The album has 14 songs, which highlights collaborations with Gracie Abrams, J Balvin and specifically with The Marías.
‘Sad eyes’ is the song in which María Zordaya and Josh Conaway, members of one of the most recognized emerging bands, The Marías, next to Benny Blanco and Selena sampled and gave a new meaning to the successful song of the 80s, ‘The boy of sad eyes’ by Jeanette.
The singer has commented that it was thanks to a concert by The Marías who attended Blanco and she, who had the inspiration to give life to the song. Selena points out that she felt “hypnotized” with music and thanks his fiance for showing him a completely new musical world. From the concert, Selena considered that Maria was the one to give life to the song with her.
The song is already available on all digital platforms, in addition to having a Visualizer On YouTube.
The combination of minimalist noises, soft synthesizers and that is the only song with Spanish verses inside the album, makes ‘sad eyes’ stand out. Selena and María’s voices create the perfect combination for a unique harmony that represents the melancholy of the original song.
‘The boy with sad eyes’ is a song that worked as the second advance of the third studio album, ‘Poet’s heart’, by singer Jeanette. Produced and composed of Manuel Alejandro, the ballad has become a classic within the musical repertoire in Spanish.
In this new Selena intervention, by the hand of his fiance and producer, Benny Blanco, has turned the meaning of the song. Within the original melody, Jeanette refers to a man who is alone, who has sad eyes and “needs love”, while in this new version, Selena adds a verse in which he emphasizes that he has not yet been able to forget his previous couple despite the years, speaking of a painful break.
In an interview for Rolling Stone, singer Jeanette commented her feeling to this tribute.
“I will tell you the truth: it is beautiful … I heard only a fragment this tomorrow, but now I have heard it all before talking to you … it is a classic cover but she has added a modern touch while respecting the essence of the original song … I think they did a wonderful job, she is lovely.”
The song has had a great reception from its fans, making the love for the music of two different generations one this time.
