The CDMX was transformed. The streets, regularly gray, were dyed in pastel colors, led lights, wigs and striking attire to welcome Katy Perry, who tonight starts their world tour The Lifetime.

On the outskirts of the CDMX sandscenario that will be the singer’s starting point, rabbit ears, crowns, blankets, keychains and even stamped with the image of “Santa Katy Perry” are sold.

But what attracts the most attention is the amount of fans -also known as Katycats -that they hope to see their star live.

Such is the Cado de Jesús Medrano, who was inspired by the residence that Perry made in Las Vegas for his outfit: a giant fungus.

But, for the young man, being a fan of Katy goes far beyond having fun with his music and his peculiar looks; It is about being a community and above all being.

“I have been a fan for more than 16 years. We already know that every so often they want The Universal.

Later, Alex poses in front of the entrance. His outfit was thought and designed especially for tonight:

“I sent it to do, they were three tests. Settings on the pierneas, belt, neck … even 3D edges. Creativity did not give me, but I loved the result”

For him, the link with Katy began at age seven and has a very personal story with the American singer.

“I heard ‘Hot N’ Cold ‘for an aunt and from there I didn’t stop. His messages of love and strength helped me when I left the closet.

Meanwhile, Rosemary and Gabriela, fans from Costa Rica and Venezuela, enjoy the environment.

“The fandom in Mexico is very energetic, very happy,” they say. Their outfits got them online or borrowed between friends. “We wanted something full of color, because Katy is Luz,” they share.

For them, more than a shelter in dark moments, Katy has always been synonymous with joy.

“It gives me positivism. It is not that I have saved me from a hard moment, but her music always uploads my mood. Teenage Dream is my anthem,” says Gabriela.

The show is about to begin and the city, which is almost always chaos, now is more, but full of color, glitters and Perry’s music that sounds among the attendees who occupy their places.

In each personal memory there is a song, a show, a phrase, a video that left its mark. In an era of networks lit by controversies, their fans respond with hearts, sweets and, above all, in community.

Because while some criticize, the Katycats respond with a clear message: “Baby, You’re a Firework.”
