The renowned artist Selena Gómez was awarded the prestigious Women of the Year award during the Billboard Latin Women in Music 2025, held on Thursday, April 24.
Although he could not attend in person, the star sent an emotional message through a video, sharing his gratitude.
In an event that celebrates the achievements of women in the music industry, Selena Gómez was recognized as a woman of the year, an honor that is granted to female artists who have demonstrated exceptional success and significant cultural influence.
In previous years, this award has been awarded to iconic figures such as Shakira and Karol G.
Through a moving video, Gomez said: “Thank you very much to Billboard. I wish I could be there with all of you, but I am filming in New York. This means a lot for me as Latin. I have been working almost all my life and being seen, supported and celebrated by women who share our roots is truly powerful.”
The artist also reflected on her pride in her Mexican heritage: “As a child, I felt extremely proud of my Mexican heritage. I did not see many women who wore like me in the center of history or on stage, and it was simply unusual. Our stories, our voices and our cultures deserve to be celebrated.”
Gómez highlighted one of the most significant moments of his career: “Living my EP Revelation was one of the most proud moments of my career, simply because I felt that I was creating music for something I had always wanted to convey from my inheritance and my family.” He also dedicated a few words to his fans: “I can never say enough: it is thanks to you that I can do what I love. And thank you all for supporting me during all these years. Thank you from the heart. I love you all. I love you.”
The ceremony, conducted by the tribute of 2024 Ana Barbara, was broadcast live exclusively by Telemundo, celebrating not only Gomez, but also to other outstanding artists such as Celia Cruz (Legend Award), Belinda (Evolution Award), Natti Natasha (unstoppable artist award), Anitta (avant -garde award), Chiquis (Impact Award) Unwavering).
