a day of reflection, cultural unity and spiritual renewal

(ANS – Tirupattur) – The third day of SYM Day 2024 was marked by reflection, commitment and cultural exchange that brought together young people to deepen their faith and spirituality, while celebrating their diverse cultures. The day was filled with activities designed to promote unity, growth and joy among participants.

The morning began with the evaluation of the meeting, sharing their reflections and thoughts about the program. This was followed by a key session on the future of the Salesian Youth Movement, led by Father Patrick and Father Christy. They shared valuable ideas about the way forward for Youth Ministry, encouraging a deeper commitment to spiritual growth and active participation in the mission of the Church. Afterwards, the participants held a “Reels Competition”, through which they showed their creativity and artistic expressions related to faith and youth spirituality.

The session dedicated to cultural exchange offered young people the opportunity to participate in recreational activities and cultural competitions, celebrating the rich diversity of their origins. This was further reinforced with the “Cultural Exhibition of the SYM”, which highlighted intercultural communion and unity. Participants exchanged food and souvenirs, underscoring the importance of embracing diverse traditions while remaining rooted in the shared values ​​of the Salesian community.

The afternoon was marked by the “Traditional Costume Race”, where participants proudly displayed the traditional costumes of their respective regions, symbolizing individuality and solidarity. The event was inaugurated by Mr. K. Tharpagaraj and turned out to be an inspiring and meaningful moment. Before beginning, the young people made a sincere commitment to support the values ​​of unity, service and spiritual growth. This act symbolized their dedication to promoting a strong sense of community and responsibility within the Salesian Youth Movement and as agents of positive social change.

The evening unfolded as a profound moment of spiritual renewal and joyful celebration, uniting the community in faith and harmony. It began with a solemn mass celebrated by Father Clive Telles, superior of the Salesian Province of India-Panjim, with the homily preached by Father Agilan Sarprasadam, superior of the Salesian Province of India-Tiruchy. This gathering invited participants to reflect deeply and offer gratitude for the blessings of the past year.

After Mass, a rosary and candlelight procession illuminated the campus, creating a moving atmosphere of devotion and contemplation. The candlelight symbolized hope and unity, as participants prayed together to our Blessed Mother in a symphony of faith.

The highlight of the day was the New Year’s Eve Program, during which a celebration was held to begin with joy and hope in the coming year. Participants welcomed 2025 with applause, shared wishes and moments of unity that reinforced the bonds created during the party. This evening of reflection and celebration left an indelible mark on the hearts of those present, filling them with strength and inspiration.
