A great security deployment has been activated in the Americas before Marco Rubio
A broad security deployment has been activated at the Américas International Airport before the arrival of the United States Secretary of State, Marcos Rubio, who will visit the country tonight to hold a meeting with President Luis Abinader tomorrow Thursday.
From early hours, federal agents, members of the Specialized Corps of Airport Security and Civil Aviation (CESAC), in addition to members of the National Police and other agencies have taken key positions at the airport to guarantee the security of the high US official.
Surveillance has been intensified, especially in the ramp where Rubio and his delegation will move.
Meanwhile, the maintenance staff and ramp operations have worked on cleaning and conditioning the area where the United States government aircraft will be parked.
It is estimated that the aircraft transporting to the Secretary of State lands in Dominican territory at 8:15 pm on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, it will be received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, together with a delegation of Dominican government officials and representatives of the United States Embassy in the country.
His stay will run until Thursday, February 6, and the Secretary of State and the Dominican president are expected to address the crisis in Haiti and the recent decision of Washington to cease the aid to the multinational security force.
Also, Abinader will seek to discuss the suspension of the funds of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for the Dominican Republic.
