After his criticism of Elon Musk, Steve Bannon now targeted Mark Zuckerberg and called him a “criminal”
In a television interview on the program This Week of the ABC network, Steve Bannon, former advisor to Donald Trump, attacked the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, calling him a “criminal” and demanding a thorough investigation about their activities in the context of the 2020 presidential elections.
Bannon, known for his controversial statements and key role in the Trump campaign, argued that Zuckerberg should be “properly awarded” for what he called “Zuckerbucks.”
This term is used by Republican sectors to refer to the businessman’s million-dollar donations to a non-profit organization that distributed funds to the electoral boards in 2020, under the premise of supporting non-partisan processes. However, Republicans have accused Zuckerberg of disproportionately favor areas with progressive political leanings.
During the interview, Jonathan Karl, host of the program, questioned whether Bannon believed in a supposed change of position or “conversion” of Zuckerberg towards Trump. “Absolutely not,” Bannon responded bluntly. “I think Mark Zuckerberg is a criminal”.
The former advisor added that, in his opinion, the United States Congress should lead a systematic investigation into the 2020 election to determine whether there were irregularities. He even suggested the possibility of appointing a special prosecutor to review the case in depth.
“If there is nothing there, there is nothing there,” Bannon clarified, trying to moderate his statements, although he highlighted his distrust of the CEO of Meta, stating that “he will turn against us at any moment.”
Bannon’s statements to ABC come after it was announced that Zuckerberg will host a gala reception this Monday after Trump’s inauguration.
In recent weeks, the owner of Meta attended a series of meetings with the Republican magnate at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, made a million-dollar donation to the inaugural fund and quickly ended the fact-checking your platform.
Days ago, Trump’s former advisor also had strong statements against another tycoon who aligned himself with the new American president. None other than Elon Musk.
“I will get Elon Musk fired before the inauguration. You won’t have a blue pass with full access to the White House. It will be like any other. “He is a very evil person.”Bannon said in an interview published in the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera.”
Bannon acknowledged that “stopping it has become a personal issue for me,” adding: “Before, since I put in so much money, I was willing to tolerate it. Not now.”
The former advisor assured that the tycoon’s only objective is to make money.
“Musk is not part of this Government, he is doing an efficiency report to help us build the state Administration”said Bannon, convicted in 2022 for failing to comply with a subpoena from a committee investigating the assault on the Capitol in January 2021, in which Trump supporters broke into the US Congress to prevent the certification of President Joe Biden’s victory in the elections. from two months before.
Musk “has the maturity of a child” and “frankly, the people around Trump are tired of him. “We have seen his intrusive nature, his lack of understanding of real problems and his support only for himself,” he commented.
“His only goal is to become a trillionaire. He will do whatever it takes to ensure that each of his businesses is protected or gets a better deal or makes more money. The accumulation of wealth and, through wealth, power: that is its goal. “American workers will not tolerate it,” he concluded.
