Bad Bunny and Shakira ‘shine’ among the guests at Met Gala

NEW YORK, United States.- The celebrity parade opened the exuberant Met Gala, which is held every first Monday of May in the New York Metropolitan Museum (MET) and that this year is dedicated to fashion through the diaspora of the black population in the United States.
For fashion lovers, the Met Gala is simply one of the most important and imposing red carpets in the world.
Among the first to dazzle in these ‘Oscar de la Fashion’, the Teyana Taylor actress and composer posed with an outfit of infinite details: cane in hand, feathers hat in the head and a suit adorned with silver chains on a folly entharned vest, all under an impressive glowing layer of roses.
Or the Afro -American singer Diana Ross, who wore an extensive white layer.
The Hispanic singers also made their entrance, Shakira and Bad Bunny.
Next to themformula pilot 1 Lewis Hamiltonwith an impeccable cream suit with his beret and dazzling diamonds, or singer Pharrell Williams, now a designer in Louis Vuitton, with a white short jacket with pearl inlays.
At the foot of the staircase, they listened to a choir to sing the song “Ain’t no Mountain High Enough”, which made Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell famous, another tribute to the black omnipresent black culture this year.
– “New reason for being” –
As usual, the theme of the evening coincides with the great exhibition of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum: this year, the MET promises an exploration of American fashion since the 18th century through the dress styles that were initially imposed on the black populations of the United States and Europe, but then they reappropriate and reinvented.

An example is black dandism, an aesthetic inherited from slavery that has become synonym for elegance and emancipation.
The exhibition, which has been preparing for months, is part of the search for diversity by US cultural institutionsfive years after the anti -racist protests of the “Black Lives Matter” movement (the lives of blacks matter) after the death of George Floyd, murdered by the police.
It is also carried out in a context in which President Donald Trump cuts funds to policies for the promotion of diversity.
“Obviously, this exhibition was planned many years ago and we did not know what was going to happen in the political field, but acquires a new importance and a new reason for being,” Anna Wintour told AFP.
– “Our talents, our history” –
Among the expected guests are the Olympic champion of Simone Biles Gymnastics and the sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, in addition to the filmmaker and follower of the Knicks Spike Lee and the new rap of the rap doechii.
However, the LeBron James basketball legend, which had the title of Honor President of the Gala, withdrew due to a knee injury.
When the theme was announced last October, Pharrell Williams, whose brand sponsors the exhibition of the suit institute, stressed the importance of celebrating the cultures born of slavery, which still chases American society.
We are the survivors of what is perhaps the worst evidence never suffered by a group of human beings, and we have not only survived, but we have taken music, culture, beauty and universal language through an ocean and four centuries, ”he said.
“This is what the Met gala will celebrate: our talent, our history, our food, our resistance and beauty, our style and our strength,” he added.
The event raises funds to hold the suit institute. According to The New York Times, a 2024 dinner seat cost $ 75,000 and a complete table came out for $ 350,000. The famous Manhattan Museum reported that last year’s edition raised about 26 million dollars.
