Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen, in the spotlight

The former president Donald Trump has requested federal investigation into the presidential campaign of Kamala Harrisafter publicly accusing it of having illegally paid celebrities such as Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Oprah Winfrey and Bono to support their candidacy. The statements have been disseminated on Monday through its social social network.

In his messages, Trump has argued that Harris would have undercover those payments as “entertainment expenses”, which, according to him, would constitute an “illegal campaign contribution.” He has not contributed evidence to support these accusations.

The former president has published: “How much did Kamala Harris pay to Bruce Springsteen for his poor performance during his campaign? Why did he accept that money if he is so fan of his? Isn’t that an illegal contribution?”

Trump has also lashed out against Beyoncéensuring that he received 11 million dollars for going to a rally in support of Harris without singing. “He took the stage, quickly backed Kamala and left between boos for not singing a single song,” he wrote.

In another message, he said that it was an “illegal electoral fraud at the highest level” and added: “Bruce Springsteen, Oprah, Bono and, perhaps, many more, have much to explain.”

After the publication of the accusations, both Oprah Winfrey and Tina Knowles – Madre de Beyoncé – have denied that Harris’s campaign has paid for public backups. According to the Federal Electoral Commission (FEC), support payments are not illegal in themselves, provided they are correctly registered in campaign expenses.

The tension has increased after recent statements by Bruce Springsteen during a concert in Manchester, on March 11, in which he harshly criticized Trump’s presidency.
