Beyoncé wins the Grammy for the first time to the album of the year for ‘Cowboy Carter’

Beyoncé won for the first time in his career the long -awaited Grammy to album of the year for ‘Cowboy Carter’, the US recording academy announced this Sunday during the 67th edition of these awards held at the Crypto.com Arena de los Angeles.

“There have been many years,” said Beyoncé, waiting for him to receive “La Joya de la Corona” from these awards from the chief of the Los Angeles Firefighters, Anthony Marrone.

This Grammy makes her the first black woman, after 26 years, to win in this category since Lauryn Hill did in 1999 and the seventh artist who won the prize for a album of the country genre.

The singer beat artists like André 3000 (‘New Blue Sun’); Sabrina Carpenter (‘Short N’ Sweet ‘); Charli XCX (‘Brat’); Jacob Collier (‘Djesse Vol. 4’); Taylor Swift (‘The tortured poet department’); Chappell Roan (‘The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess’); and Billie Eilish (‘Hit me hard and soft’).

‘Cowboy Carter’, the eighth album of his entire career is the expected “second act” of his work ‘Renaissance’, released in 2022.

His foray into the Country genre was born from an experience in which “he had not felt welcome”, referring to an performance in the Awards of the Association of Country Music (CMA) in which several attendees of the public were disturbed during their show and in which social networks burned with racist comments.

On the disc, the singer mixes genres such as country, pop, rap and hip-hop.

Thanks to this album, the most nominated artist of the night, also received two more awards for the best performance of a country duet for his collaboration with Miley Cyrus ‘II Most Wanted’ and best country album.

With ‘Cowboy Carter’ the Texan interpreter became the first black woman to lead the Top Country Albums list of Billboard magazine by that album, and three songs of this production also made it the first woman to lead the first three positions on the Hot Country Songs list.
