On Monday, April 14, a historical journey to space was starring six women, including the famous singer Katy Perry and Lauren Sánchez, journalist and promised of the magnate Jeff Bezos, aboard the New Shepard rocket, developed by the Aerospace Blue Origin company.

This group of women made history by becoming the first crew to participate in an exclusively female suborbital flight. This flight, which took off from western Texas, reached an altitude of more than 100 kilometers, crossing the karm line, the limit between the Earth’s atmosphere and the outer space.

The trip had a duration of only ten minutes, but during that short time, Passengers experienced microgravityfloating freely inside the capsule, being another sample of the tourist spatial travel portfolio of the company of Jeff Bezos founded more than two decades ago.

Blue Origin is a private aerospace company founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezosthe same tycoon who revolutionized e -commerce with Amazon. The main objective of the company is to reduce the costs of space travel, making space accessible to a greater number of people.

Through its reusable rocket technology, Blue Origin seeks to transform the space industrysimilar to what commercial aviation did when putting it within reach of society.

Likewise, Blue Origin rockets, such as the New Shepard and New Glenn, are designed to take off and land vertically, a feature that allows the reuse of their components to 25 times, resulting in a drastic cost reduction.

These advances are in line with the vision of Bezos to democratize access to space, although there are still many challenges to ensure that space trips are a viable option for the general public.

As for the recent mission manned by women, it was carried out thanks to Blue Origin technology, specifically with its New Shepard rocket. This rocket is designed for suborbital flights and is completely automatedwhich minimizes human intervention during the flight.

The New Shepard uses reusable liquid propulsion engines, which allows it to recover and reuse for future releases. Besides, The capsule landing system was crucial to guarantee safety.

Through a complex system of parachute and retropropulorers, the capsule descended in a controlled way and gently landed in the Texas desert.

As more people are interested in the possibility of traveling to space, Companies like Blue Origin are working to make this dream come true.

Although flight prices have not yet been revealed, the fact that several suborbital flights have already been made evidence that space tourism is beginning to be a reality for a select group.
