Carlo Ancelotti plays mystery with his departure from Real Madrid
Those led by Carlo Ancelotti are in an uncomfortable position in the Champions League. Tomorrow at the Santiago Bernabéu they are looking for the three points that will bring them closer to direct qualification positions for the next phase of the competition.
Real Madrid faces Salzburg for the Champions League in a key duel for the whites. Last weekend they managed to beat Las Palmas in LaLiga with a great level from Kylian Mbappé. With this emotional embryo the team seeks to finish recovering from the setback that losing the Super Cup final against Barcelona meant for them.
Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media in advance of the Champions League match. He was consulted about the rumors of a possible departure from the institution and his response was blunt. “I want to be very clear. I will never decide the date of departure from this club. Never in my life. I know perfectly well that this day will come, but I don’t decide it,” he mentioned.
Likewise, the Italian, who ends his contract in 2026, hinted at the opportunity for his stay at the club to be extended for a few more years. “I have an advantage, due to the fact that Florentino will continue here for another four years, he knows me very well. The goal is to reach Florentino’s four years, so we can say goodbye together, with all the love in the world“Ancelotti stated.
In reference to Real Madrid’s next duel, the coach was emphatic in pointing out the importance of achieving a good result. “We have to score points, as many as possible, and see where we stay in the classification. It is a vital game, we will try to play it well, as we did in the last one,” he added.
The French striker who arrived at the club for the 24/25 season did not demonstrate his best level in the first round of European football. However, as the games progressed he has managed to improve his performance and in a press conference he explained why he was not able to capture his quality on the field. “It’s more mental, telling myself that I have to do more. I was doing well physically and with the group, but I knew I had to do more. I have not come to play badly,” he declared.
Mbappé commented that he feels better and better in the games and hopes that the trend continues as the season goes on. “It has been a month in which I am in a good moment. I help the team as much as I can (…) I trust in my game and in the Madrid fans who will attend tomorrow,” he said.
Real Madrid seeks to get closer to the direct qualification positions for the round of 16 of the Champions League and to get the three points tomorrow they will face Salzburg at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium at 5 p.m.
