Within the framework of the “Take care of work, take care of life” campaign, the Catholic Action Workers’ Brotherhood (HOAC) of Córdoba, together with the Pepa Nieto Association, convened a coffee-gathering to denounce the vital precariousness caused by the conception and current organization of work and together seek proposals to humanize labor and social relations
More than thirty people, including members of the aforementioned association, HOAC activists, and sympathizers, gathered at the premises of the Virgen de Fátima parish to dialogue, debate and join forces to humanize the world of work.
The Hoacist militant, Manolo Díaz, was in charge of presenting the consequences of poor working conditions for people, social organization and the environment and delving into the Christian proposal of humanization of work based on “communion, service and personal fulfillment.”
From this approach appears the need to promote a culture of care that extends to work and to the worker themselves, whose inviolable dignity should guide economic policies and practices.
To achieve this, Díaz stated, it is also necessary to cultivate a healthy spirituality that increases passion for humanity, fosters community ties and moves towards a profound change in the general mentality and ways of understanding one’s work, much more than a job in exchange. of economic income.
Attendees were able to debate and share their experiences and opinions, in addition to exploring together values, attitudes and habits that promote the necessary social change. Many of them even proposed some type of commitment and gesture to improve, within their possibilities, the human understanding of work, working conditions and defend the common home.
Caring for life, as was clearly evident, also involves caring for work and creation, seriously threatened by the current perversion of the meaning of work, which reduces employment to an activity carried out in exchange for obtaining the money necessary to sustain consumerist lifestyles that degrade biophysical bases and objectify people.
Human work, on the other hand, recognizes the person’s capacity for self-realization and highlights the potential contribution to the advancement and improvement of the entire society.
