Abel has competed in the last three seasons for his father’s team, Abel Motorsports in Indy NXT, and achieved 3 victories last year, but finished the championship behind the monarch, Louis Foster. Coyne has yet to announce the second driver for 2025 and there is no shortage of candidates for that seat, such as Rinus Veekaythe brothers Enzo and Pietro Fittipaldi, Linus Lundqvist and Toby Sowerythe latter already raced for the team in last year’s seat rotation.

We have watched Jacob over the years and did an evaluation with him at the end of the 2023 season where he showed a lot of promise in these cars. It will be good to have a solid driver again for the entire season. Our plans for our second pilot are going very well, and we will have more news about it in about 3 weeks.”
Finally, as the category implemented the franchise system by 2025, a driver, in this case Abel, can only be replaced by two drivers throughout the year. The #51 car saw up to six competitors last season, due to Coyne had not found financing in a particular corridor, something that will have to change due to the new regulations of the “charters”.
