Trump, who assumed on January 20 the presidency of the United States for the second time, recognizes Edmundo González Urrutia As elected president of Venezuela, but he is embarked on a fight against irregular immigration without distinctions for the migrant nationality.
González Urrutia warned the Trump administration that he is against carrying out a deportation agreement with the authoritarian ruler Nicolás Maduro.
In an interview with The Washington Post, the opposition leader said that “negotiating directly with Maduro would allow the autocrat to use Venezuelans who return for their political benefit.”
As an alternative, Edmundo González and his team have urged US officials to send Venezuelan deportees to a third country.
