The Venezuelan Edmundo González Urrutia will travel to the United States to participate in the inauguration of the new North American president, donald trumpnext Monday.

González Urrutia, who today is in Coast Rich after passing through Guatemala and Dominican Republicwill travel to Washington in the coming days to take part in the inauguration ceremony in front of Congress in the North American capital.

The Venezuelan was already in the US at the beginning of the month, where he was received by President Joe Biden at the White House and held a meeting with Michael Waltz, National Security Advisor appointed by Donald Trump.

We had a long, fruitful and cordial conversation with President Biden and his team“González Urrutia told reporters after the meeting with Biden in the Oval Office. “Our team is in contact with President Trump’s team,” he added.

In brief statements to the press, González Urrutia stated that Biden “heartily accompanies him” in his attempt to return to Venezuela.

The meeting, which was not on Biden’s official agenda, lasted about 30 minutes and, according to González Urrutia’s team, took place in the Oval Office.

The Venezuelan explained that they addressed “various aspects of the bilateral relationship” and that he thanked him for the “support” received from the United States Government “in this fight for the democratic recovery of Venezuela.”

The opponent added that he hopes the relationship with the Trump administration will be “very, very close and also very beneficial for Venezuela.”

“We are going to continue with the same bipartisan policy that we have had from the beginning and with this we are going to ensure that the path to the restoration of democracy is as soon as possible,” he declared.

Meanwhile, González Urrutia met in Washington with Waltz, Trump’s appointee to the key position of National Security Advisor.

On July 28, González faced Nicolás Maduro at the polls, in presidential elections that the opposition bloc claims to have won, according to the minutes it collected and published, but the Venezuelan National Electoral Council, controlled by the ruling party, declared victory. of the Chavista dictatorship.

The largest opposition coalition presented voting records that give victory to González Urrutia, who has been considered the president-elect by the United States and other countries.

His new visit to Washington comes after he met in Argentina with President Javier Milei and, later, in Uruguay, with President Luis Lacalle Pou, in addition to holding a video conference with the Paraguayan head of state, Santiago Peña. He also traveled to Guatemala and Costa Rica.
