The addictive series begins by introducing us to Detective Kat Donovan, a police officer who has been dealing for years with the grief of having been abandoned by her future husband and the murder of her father, also an agent. As we discovered throughout the first four episodes, Josh, her ex-partner, had something to hide and it was related to his father, although we do not know exactly what happened until the last episode.

Donovan discovers that his father was not the honest man he imagined and that he led a double life. For years, he had been in a relationship with Parker, another man with whom he meets to find out the truth. The night the two men were breaking up, Kat’s friend Aqua found them arguing, so her father ran after her to stop her from ratting her out. Very nervous, he scolds her and hits her because he thinks she called his daughter to explain what he had seen. At that moment, Josh, Kat’s boyfriend, enters the house and in the midst of a struggle, accidentally stabs his father-in-law.

We are aware of this situation, when Kat finds out, through another colleague at the police station, that the fingerprints found on the murder weapon match those of Josh, with whom she had given herself a new opportunity after meeting again.

They are both at Kat’s house and when she asks him for an explanation, he tells her the truth and assures her that it was an accident and that he left because he couldn’t handle the guilt. In the last sequence, we see both broken people sitting on the bed, staring into space, until the camera focuses on their approaching hands. Are Kat and Josh still together? We don’t know what happens after that moment, but the gesture seems to indicate that the woman is capable of understanding the situation and forgiving, although we will always be left wondering if there is a future between the two of them.
