Exploring inclusion and innovation with Minecraft and accessible games
Yesterday we live in our center a very special day focused on inclusion, creativity and educational innovation. Thanks to the collaboration of the School of Industrial and Civil Engineers of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, our students have participated in a practical experience that has combined the use of a Inclusive game and a Steam activity developed in the Minecraft environment.
This initiative is part of an educational project that seeks to integrate technology and universal design in the classroom, allowing all students – regardless of their abilities – can actively participate in recreational and training activities.
During the day, the students of 2nd and 3rd primary cycle had the opportunity to experiment with an adapted game that encourages equitable participation and empathy. Subsequently, they immersed themselves in a dynamic Steam (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) within the Minecraft universe, where they put into practice skills such as problem solving, teamwork and creativity.
We want to thank the EIIC teaching team of the University of Las Palmas de GC, especially his professor Don Pedro Hernández, and the students of 4th grade and practices, for sharing their knowledge, their enthusiasm and commitment to a more accessible and motivating education for all.
This experience encourages us to continue exploring new forms of teaching that connect with our students and prepare future generations for the challenges of the 21st century.
