The Christmas season is considered a family celebration that, from the Christian perspective, commemorates the birth of the son of God.
Beyond gift exchanges and festive joy, Christmas invites us to reflect on the importance of family unity and strengthening the spiritual bond with God.
In an interview with CPS Noticias, Father Fernando Galaviz Samudio, rector of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe in San José del Cabo, shared a reflection on the true meaning of Christmas from a religious perspective.
“Christmas is a time of family promotion. It invites us to reflect on this life of unity, of love, to strengthen ties between ourselves and also at the same time with God. It is a special time for coexistence, that during this Christmas time we can give each other that attention, care and listening that many times at different times cannot be given in the family, understanding realities such as work, occupations, activities that lead us to certain spaces where we do not enjoy each other,” said Father Fernando Galaviz Samudio, rector of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe SJC.
Father Fernando Galaviz Samudio highlighted that Christmas is more than a festive celebration; It is a call to strengthen family ties and build an atmosphere of peace and love, evoking the Christmas carol “Silent night, night of love.” He also recalled the importance of not neglecting spirituality, pointing out how faith can contribute to quality of life.
“We must attend to all the fields of our life, the material, economic, physical, but I also make a call to attend to the spiritual part of us, let’s not focus on it, let’s not leave it to oblivion, it is very important for physical and spiritual health . I have always said and believed that faith gives us quality of life, taking care of ourselves and feeding ourselves gives us quality of life, as well as living healthily with relationships established in respect and charity with everyone. So this Christmas our goal is also to immerse ourselves in the spirituality of getting to know God and the son of God who was incarnated among us to get closer to him to the point of being able to call him father,” he added.
Father Fernando Galaviz Samudio concluded his message with the hope that this Christmas will be an opportunity for people’s hopes, dreams and noble goals to be reborn. He invited these purposes to include a space for the family, seeking to live with both physical and spiritual health.
