First Peruvians for USA in the new Trump era arrive in Lima

There are 34 citizens who arrived in the Peruvian capital deported from the US at dawn on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country.

As confirmed to CNN a source with knowledge of the operation, the group is composed of three families, including six minors, nine women and nineteen men. These people were contacted before their trip to Peru by the Peruvian consulate in Houston. The deportees arrived in a military plane to Group 8 of the Peruvian Air Force, not to the Lima airport.

“Our compatriots, especially those in a situation of vulnerability, received psychological accompaniment and orientation on health system, among other services,” said the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Peru in a statement in which they referred to these people as “citizens intervened by migratory infractions ”.

Foreign Ministry convened public institutions to provide “immediate medical, psychological and social assistance to our nationals” in addition to giving them “support to facilitate their reintegration to Peruvian society” through public insurance for those who do not have medical coverage, and opportunities for whom They need work, the statement indicates.

Until Tuesday, approximately 500 Peruvians were held in the centers of the US immigration and customs control service abroad and consular issues.

The characteristics of Peruvian migration are different from that of other countries, “we calculate that 30% would be in an irregular situation,” Bravo said. Pedro Bravo told CNN that Peru’s 16 consulates in the US have been instructed to approach the units of immigration control services in different states to know if there are Peruvians in those places.
